About Kifaa
Why offline? Why Africa? Why hands-on?
Kifaa (Swahili for “device” or “tool”) was built to close the gap between theory and practice in African classrooms, one circuit at a time.
Students learn theory.
Labs don't exist.
89% of sub-Saharan African schools lack functioning science labs. Students study circuits on paper, memorize Ohm's Law, and never touch a breadboard. They graduate knowing the theory, but not the practice.

The lab comes
to the student.
Kifaa is a self-contained device that brings the electronics lab into any classroom or home. It runs fully offline, requires no laptop, and guides students step-by-step through real circuit-building projects.
“Every student in Africa should have the opportunity to build something real with their hands, to feel the LED light up, the buzzer sound, the servo move.”
The Kifaa Mission

Impact Across Africa
Reaching Students Where They Are
Kifaa is designed for secondary school science labs, university engineering foundations, vocational training centres, and STEM clubs across the continent. From Nairobi to Lagos, Dar es Salaam to Accra, Cape Town to Kampala, students are learning electronics theory without ever touching a real component. Kifaa changes that.
Whether you are preparing for KCSE examinations in Kenya, IGCSE Physics practicals, WAEC and NECO science assessments in Nigeria, or simply want to build skills for a STEM competition or science fair project, Kifaa provides the hands-on experience that textbooks cannot.
Countries We Serve
Kenya, Nigeria, Tanzania, Ghana, South Africa, Uganda, Ethiopia, Mozambique, and Senegal. Kifaa is built for the realities of sub-Saharan African classrooms: intermittent power, limited budgets, and large class sizes.
Institutions and Partners
We work with secondary schools, universities such as JKUAT and the University of Nairobi, vocational training centres, and community STEM clubs. Kifaa is an affordable science lab alternative that fits in a backpack and runs on battery power.
